Off-Road Large Spark-Ignition (LSI) Rule
Mark
Williams, CARB Off-Road Mobile Source Control
Division
Forklifts
fueled by gasoline, natural gas or propane must reduce
emissions through retrofit or replacement with electric
or cleaner LSI engines. Companies that operate four or

conduct a baseline inventory and maintain compliance
records. The rule includes fleet averaging, new engine
certification standards, retrofit verification standards
and record keeping. CARB enforcement is schedule to
begin after April 1, 2009.
